Blackboard VTBE and SafeAssign Issues

Below are two issues I'd like to bring to your attention:

1. Images in Text Box Editor -

As many of you already know, there are several known issues with the Blackboard Virtual Text-box Editor (VTBE). This is the feature found in several Blackboard tools, such as the discussion board, journal, blog and announcements, that allows you to modify the appearance of content in the text box (i.e. bold, italics, underline, etc.) as well as embed images, video, among other things.

If you have any assignments on the discussion board (or any other Bb tool that uses the VTBE) where you ask students to include a file (i.e. image, document, etc.) with their submission, encourage students not to use the VTBE to embed files. Instead, encourage them to attach the file using the Browse button below the text-box (click here: http://www.monroeccc.edu/distancelearning/files/VTBE_Attachments_Tutorial.pdf for instructions).

2. SafeAssign (Plagiarism detection tool) Processing Problem -

Here is a message from Blackboard regarding a recent SafeAssign issue:
"On Sunday, November 29th, student papers that were submitted to SafeAssign were not being processed due to a database issue related to continued high submission volume.  The issue was quickly identified and the submission backlog is now being reprocessed.  Submissions will be processed in the order they were received and all submissions should be processed no later than December 6th."
